I dont think I would bank on this being a secondary ignition problem. I would get a scanner on it and see what your sensor output are at idle and while its running. Next time it does this I would unplug the o2 sensor and see if it clears up the problem. Check the codes and see if you have more then just an o2 sensor code. Being so rich it should have set off a fuel trim code(not sure about OBD1) but there might be another code with it that will be the actual problem. hope this helps ya.

raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag! i went to go get my codes pullled but advance auto parts ODBI reader was broken.........so it shut off on me alot this time!!!! it is really starting to feel JUST LIKE WHEN MY MSD COIL TOOK A CRAP.

i did what you guys said and FLOORED it when it started to fk up and just acts like im not pressing the gas, although when i was rolling 35 mph I was almost pulling into my hood when it started fking up and out of frustration I punched it I stumbed popped like the 4th of july and got moving then i put it in netural and VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. the SES light is DEF coming on, but im not sure if this poor baby is going to be able to make another trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shes pretty much stranded at this point. :-( :-( :-( :-(

i have another stock coil chilling in the hatch i guess i can pop it on but someone is following me around with a tow rope and truck. But im leaning toward the opti just for the fact that im getting an SES light, but who knows i can't remember if i got an SES light when my MSD went bad or not, but i do remember being able to hold it to the floor and it would go idle speed and sound like I tossed 800 black cats out my window. What about the ICM??

 

did you get it scanned yet? what about the coil? im having same problem

 

im waiting till the weekend till i monkey with it, that way my friend can follow me around. Right not it is just tooooo flakey to make it ANYWHERE, im really convinced it is the coil or the opti.....praying it is the coil, im going to change the ICM just for good measure as well.

 

so I fumbled around with it today and found the coil had a few WHITE spots on it!!!

put in my backup coil and it seems to be running good, i'll give it a nice long test drive tomarrow and order my MSD and replace my ICM just for good measure. Don't be so quick to jump on the opti wagon guys :-P

 

well well well this just keeps getting better and better........5 miles into my test drive the car fks up again. I let it die, I get out pop the hood and i hear an electrical motor going WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE offf WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE off WEEEEEEEEEEEE off finally it gets freaked out and turns off then I hear zap zap zap zap........... no start.... key off let it sit, crank up......fk up OFF then i hear the same electrical motor sound ON and off on and off, the only electrical motor i know if is the A.I.R pump......... i pull the relay, and fire it... drive me all the way back home no problem.

letting the car idle in the driveway it will shut itself off. with the relay out.

Well those symtoms sound definetely like an opti problem to me. I have had similar symtoms before.

I very good plan for you would be to buy a cable from AKM electronics and then download 'Freescan' and you can do all your own code reading and monitor all the things comin into the PCM. You can also erase the codes as they come up so you don't have to deal with unhookin the battery to try and erase the codes. I did that several years ago- helps TREMENDOUSLY whenever the car is actin up

Whatever is happening it is only happening after 10 mins of driving when the engine is at full op temp

 

hm i can't get my car into diag mode??

im jumping the top far right 2 pins, switching the key on....all fans and stuff comes on but the SES light doesn't flash 12.......just the check gauges light stays on :-(
