so I go to take the camaro right down the street, not even 1 mile......let it run for 2 mins to warm up, jump in pull out of my street.....i didn't even get out of 1st gear before my tach needle is jumping around and, suddenly my camaro has a high lift cam but I can't go faster then let my foot of the brake idle, it knocks pops and cams like a drag car.

I pull into a parking lot get out and WOW its running VERY rich to say the least, i think i got a little buzz walking around my car. SO i shut it down.

turn the car back on

Dirty MAF maybe? Could have an O2 sensor wire rubbing something and shorting out also, saw that on at least 2 car before.

 

unplug the o2 sensors and see if it goes away. did you go WOT at all after it started screwing up?

 

I was in the middle of a busy road and I didn't wanna slam it to the floor for fear it would just DIE, when i pushed down a little it just got worse and POPPED loud....it pretty much felt like it was bearly going to make it to the parking lot.

Its not really something that is there all the time, cause after i got it running again i just went ahead and drove to the store and back.........it just picks a random moment to screw up.

the SES light did come on, can autozone pull OBDI codes????

 

if it was the o2 sensors when you floor it the computer goes into PE mode and ignores them and should haul a$$ like a normal WOT run. this happened to my car when it devoleped a small exhaust before the o2. so i just unpluged them until i had time to weld it up.

 

Opti or contaminated fuel....

opti's are fun, check your plugs, might have a bad valve leak (oil, fouling plugs). if was as bad as you say i wouldn't think it's a hole in the exhaust or you SHOULD be able to hear it at that point.

 

how does that explain me being able to simply shut it off, and as fast as i can turn the key it runs great??

 

my car is doing the same **** man, like 3 weeks ago or so started it up and it was stumblin for no reason, then snapped out of it for 2 weeks, and it just got progressivly worse until today and a few days ago when it was really ****ty, rainy and humid, it died n didnt start up til the next day when it wasnt raining n crap. i have 80k on my car, im trying to diagnose it but im thinking opti, and ive been told by a friend thats real knowledgeable and he says opti. not necessarily your problem, but within a week im gonna put an opti in and ill let ya know what happens. n e more suggestions for hey01 and me from all of you would be helpful

 

could be your coil!! when my MSD went out it got progressivly worse, see if you can ****** a coil from someone for 10 mins and see if that works.


autozone doesn't pull codes on OBD1 GRR :-( im going to replace my coil wire, inspect my MAF... then drive the gas out of it and refill..

 

im going to carry around a digital cam to see if i can get you guys a clip of the demonic possession if it happens again.

 

my dads car did somethin like that when he made a lifter shrink by about 1/8-1/4in. lol but his didnt just "snap out of it" isnt it funny how these LT1s can do that.. makes trouble shooting a pita, ive got a few little "demons" ive been trying to find for awhile now but they always stop before i can figure it out =/

 

yea makes me scared to drive the car to far...... you never know if you REALLY fixed the problem, or it just went into hiding for awhile.

 

anyone think a fked up EGR could do this?
