in depth AC questions

well i know i have problems with my AC. sometimes i think its just freon other times i think it might be the switches. anyway i need to know what the gauges should read. weve got them at work and well im not that good with AC systems. also if they numbers arent right could i get some possible reasons as to why they are off? thanks Trey

ok well i hooked it up today and it was at 30 and 225. it was int he eighties with high humidity. i only looked at the gauges and according to that chart im in the good, but the ac just doesnt workas well as it us3ed too. im talking a few months ago too. i goes through flashes of cold at first. ill be cruising and the air is cooler and that just outside air but itll blow real cold for a few seconds then quit. i thought it was freon but sometimes it didnt do that. sometimes it worked fine. and yes the clutch is turning on and off. any ideas. thanks trey

There is a low pressure switch on the low side line (the cold one) before the accumulator/drier (silver can thing on passenger side of engine). You can check this switch to see if its opening. Try wiggling the wire while the a/c is on. Hope this helps.

The switch could have a short/open condition.
