Opti-Direct "Bare-Bones" Kit. Complete kit minus coilpack and spark plug wires. $347.65

Opti-Direct System for 1993-1997 LT1/LT4 Camaro/Firebird $667.25

Can you use regular LS1 coils or is there something special about them?

Go back and read the info on the Delteq website, and in this thread. Only the Bailey LTCC uses 8 LS1-style coils. The Delteq Opti-Direct uses a pack of 4 dual-tower coils that fire two cylinder simultaneously.... one on the compression stroke and one on the exhaust stroke ("lost" spark). This is the ignition commonly used in "batch fire" fuel injection setups, including the Buick GN/GNX Turbo's and the F-Body V6's.

That is the reason you need to keep the Opti with this setup.... The 94 and later sequential fire LT1 requires a cam position signal to allow the injectors to fire in the correct sequence. The stock PCM needs the low resolution signal from the Opti to sequence the injectors.

When they come out with the "Stage 2" Delteq, it will likely include some other source for the cam position signal - deleting the Opti completely - and a chip to synthesize the low res pulse that the stock PCM requires to function. All of this sounds very much like the Electromotive SDI/Opti-Eliminator that a few of us were using about 5 years ago, and since the name JC Hyde appeared at both E'motive and at Delteq, you can see the common thread.

Point is, you need to use a twin-tower coil for the Delteq setup, at least at this point in its development.
