Delteq Opti-direct

I was wondering where delteq gets the coil packs, like do they get them from another car, cause i know the 3800 series motors use coils like that, but of course 2 less. Thanks for your reply Paul

I got my 4 coil-packs + ignition module off of ebay for $120. Saves you a bit of money that way.

Actually, the 3800 would have one less coil -- not two less coils. Each coil powers two cylinders, four coils in total (not like the LTCC 'coil-per-cylinder' setup).

From what I've found, these are the generic Northstar coil part numbers (four needed). Not sure if they are 100% accurate -- USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!:

AC DELCO: D555
BECK/ARNLEY: 178-8206
WELLS: C849
GP SORENSEN: GC411
STANDARD: DR39
SUMMIT RACING: SUM-850017
NAPA/ECHLIN: IC406

And these are the generic Northstar Ignition Control Modules (one needed):

AC DELCO: D1980-A
BORG WARNER: CBE43
WELLS: DR160
GP SORENSEN: EL189
STANDARD: LX362
NAPA/ECHLIN: TP415

*If anyone can verify those part numbers, that'd be great.*

I saw that Summit now sells a higher-output, dual-post GM DIS coil (part number SUM-850017 listed above ~ $33 each). Looks like you can pick up one of the Wells C849 coils for about $19 each from Autozone. Of course, you'll still need the Northstar ignition control module that the four coils sit on, which is the most expensive.
