Delteq issues

I'm having some issues with my Delteq and I see some members here have issues as well. Reading a few threads, I need clear direction as to just what part folks are having heat related problems, the words used are confusing to me. The "ignition module" (the part that sits under the coil pack) is Northstar GM part #104776. The Delteq "ignition controller" or "opti-box" is the part that has the red LED and takes the place of the factory coil. Which one of these parts are folks talking about experiencing failure due to heat? Thanks, Douglas

I have heard of the opti box(the little box with the LED) breaking apart by torquing it down too hard. Apparently the plastic it's made of can become very fragile. The ICM (the part that is under the Coilpacks) has just stopped working for a few people on here, dunno if it was heat related. Everything in that system except the opti box can be replaced via GM parts. They aren't cheap though. I dunno what one would do if the opti box went out. Apparently Delteq has been non-existent for some time. That and the unavailability of replacing certain parts in the system keeps me paranoid about my system.

Friend cas, the part that has been failing is the Del-Tec opti-box (with the red LED). The GM ignition module hardly ever fails, on my unit the Gm part failed because the coil pack fell off the valve cover and ended up on the exhaust manifold. I got one at a junk yard for $50, there's thousands of Northstar engine cars at the junk yards. This stuff took me ten days of a rental car to find out. See my other posts on threads here, Thanks, Douglas

Probably be helpful to people doing a "search" in the future, to use the correct name.

Delteq

Now this thread will show up in a search.
