Default KR settings?....Injuneer?
Default KR settings?....Injuneer?
I'm getting KR no matter what with my new motor, could the knock sensor not be connected properly?
What happens if the sensor is disconnected?
An SES light?
Erratic KR readings?
A fixed, constant KR reading?
Thanks

If the KS is not connected, you should get a code 43 (and maybe an SES light... not sure - mine seems to have a cut wire
).
I don't run a KS, and I don't use my stock PCM for the fuel and spark management, but I still have the stock PCM for IAC control and VSS. With my ScanMaster, I see a huge amount of knock retard, because of no KS, and it is a variable number (not a fixed number), up as high as 12 degrees retard. Appears there is some sort of algorithm for calculating retard in the absence of the KS.

My tuner took timing down to 4 degrees total timing and still saw KR, even at idle(!)
He then, inadvertantly(sp) tried to load a new program with the scanmaster connected and damaged the PCM. He sent it out to be repaired and is still waiting for it.
I thought the KR was false until I noticed the amount of KR was related to load on the motor. Next, we are going to disconnect the knock sensor and see what happens with the KR readings.
We dynoed it after a little A/F tuning and saw 349rwhp initially with mods in sig.(letting off at 5600rpm) I can't imagine my combo making more than that, but I guess its possible.
