deCarbon shock blew up!
deCarbon shock blew up!
Anyone ever had this happen? My Camaro has 50K on the OEM deCarbon shocks so I decided to change them. I did not use heat or air tools and the rears came out easy. After I freed them from the car, I pushed the piston down (compressed the shock) and yellowish-orange, foamy oil shot out everywhere. I cannot believe how much was in there. It looks like it leaked passed the seals around the piston. The shock looked new, no corrosion, no wetness prior to the blow out. I am thankful it happened in my garage and not on the street or the track.
