Is this the death of my tranny?

I've notice that my tranny no longer rev's down when I decelerate. I let off the gas and instead of it slowly reving down, the tach., just drops to 1K RPM, oil pressure drops and the car just coasts. The tranny doesn't engage, until it hits 2K when I give it gas. 1st, 2nd and 3rd do this, OD seems fine. It shifts fine either auto or manual and will move from a stop as soon as the gas is hit. Is this major or do I have time too save up. Thanks.

I had the tranny reveresed flushed, less than a year ago. I'll check the color after I get to work tomorrow.

Since it shifts hard into each gear manually. Could it be the converter? It's stock stall.

The lugs on the over-run clutch hub part of the sprag are broke off.

Would this problem be a total rebuild or partial? About how much does a rebuild run, I don't need a full race tranny, just one stronger than stock. Also, for the price, would I be better off with a new tranny, from like Phoenix or P&D trannies? Or, spend the grand it would cost on a rebuild? Thanks.

About 900 or so seems to be the norm minus the converter, its about 250 labor to swap trannies, then add on the converter costs.

What stall should I get for a Crane 104227 210/224 camshaft? Also, I have 3 way, P&P stock heads, 2.02/1.56 values, value train componets to match the cam, flat top pistons, headers and the like, Can I get away with a stock tranny or do I need a built one?

I charge $1000 for a race 4L60E rebuild. That price includes all the racing updates/modifications, but doesn't include "hard parts". Hard parts are parts not normally included in a rebuild, such as a drum, planetary, etc. There's no guarantee what, if any, hard parts are needed until you get the transmission apart.

As for your immediate problem. It won't hurt anything UNLESS the broken pieces get wedged where they shouldn't be.

That's an awfully small cam for P&P heads with 2.02" valves. I was running a 10.5" 3200 stall with a stock engine/cam. With the new cam/head combo, I'm using a 9.5" 3800 stall. The car goes 1.67 60 ft. times on street tires and a stock suspension...

A GOOD converter will cost you around $700
