Dead Starter?

Today I tried to start my car and it didn't even turn over, the accessories just turned on. I tried several times and didn't even hear the starter click. I can turn my headlights on and they don't appear dim or anything. After 5 or so minutes of trying to start the car and it making no noise, it finally started. Does this sound like my starter needs to be replaced?

Thanks.

Re: Dead Starter?

Had a similar issue with my 92, happened mostly when it was cold.
Bad starter in my case.

Re: Dead Starter?

Is there even a possibility it could be the battery?

Re: Dead Starter?

Always possible I suppose; just because it quacks like my duck, doesn't mean it is my duck.
get it and the alt tested (free at most parts shops).

Re: Dead Starter?

Okay, I think VATS may be the culprit. When I try to start my car the security light blinks, then I wiggle the key around a little and the security light eventually goes off and the car starts fine.

That's possible as well.

That's possible as well; my manuals are are in my car (at the shop
getting heads/cam put in). Hopefully you will have a solution, if not i will look
up some troubleshooting steps as soon as I get them back.

Re: Dead Starter?

I am able to start my car, however I have to wiggle the key around until the "Security" light stops blinking. I tried my spare set of keys and it has the same problem. Has anyone had this problem before? What needs to be replaced?
