Daytime running lamps for 95TA

first i have a question...when i turn the light switch to the parking light setting, the headlights flip up but dont turn on and the parking lights turn on. To me this looks retarted cuz my headlights are up, but not on.

I have been reading up on this, but I can only find info for Camaro's. I have a 95TA and I was wondering if anyone has done this mod before. I want it to be exactly like the 98+ birds where they come on when you start the car, and turn off when you turn off the car. I wouldnt care if they were on a switch either. I would also want them to work with the turn signals, and i dont want the rear tail lights to be on. like i said, just like how the 98+ DRL's work.

Anyone care to help me out? Or is it a lot of work?

There is a little sensor in your dash. It's a round plastic thing... lift it out, and cut the wires off of the sensor. Make sure you dont drop those wires into the dash, or you're in ****! Just strip them, and tape them together. Then you can have full control of your lights at all times. You might want to hang on to the sensor incase you ever want to put it back to stock. It's likely expensive.

Could you be a little more specific by explaining what "full control" of my lights means? Also where under the dash is it located? And what will this allow me to do?

I used to drive a 95 formula and when you flip on the parking lights, the headlights would not go up. So when you say that your's go up, that sounds strange.

As for adding the DRL's I found this install page which might help ya. The car being modified is a 95 camaro but everything is probably the same.

My headlights don't do that. If I turn on the headlights......then turn the switch back a notch to the parking lights they stay popped up, but when I just switch to parking lights thats all that comes on.

Sounds like you have some kind of problem. Maybe the switch.

the sensor is on top of your dash, just a little to the right. It looks like a little eye sitting flush to the dash. Stick your fingers under there, and pull it up.

It will allow you to control when the lights come up, and you can shut them off whenever you want

Hm, Ive never seen it before, I'll have to look for it. What is the sensor for if you already have a switch for the lights? Could someone elaborate for the illiterate (me)?

If it was a Canadian car, wouldn't the primary numbers on the speedo be in km/hr? And the guages be in Liters? etc. Here is my VIN breakdown:

2G2FV2296S2******

2- Canada
G- General Motors
2- Pontiac
F- F-Body
V- Formula, Trans Am
2- 2-Door Coupe
2- Manual Belts (dual airbags)
P- 5.7L LT1
6- Check Digit
S- 1995
2- St. Therese

Does the '2' indicate that it was a Canadian car? If so, what does that mean?

Yea, Im with some of these guys^^, You could have a problem because I have a 95 Trans AM, and i USED to be a be able to just turn some of the lights on without my headlights popping up. I could just drive around with the foglights on and stuff. LOL Now when I try to do it, my headlights pop up.

Does Anyone know what the problme could be.

Again , I know for certain it's a problem with my car, because it was not always like this. I used to be able to have other lights on and keep the headlights from popping up.

ive got the exact same problem. went away for about three months but now its back. its really irritating because whenever i turn my alarm on or off the headlights pop up and down with the parklights turning on and off. i think its a problem with the switch that you use to turn the lights on and off with. has anyone encountered this before?

maybe you can plug in another switch form a buddys car or something?
