Dampener

Is there a way to remove the dampener without an impact gun? I was thinking someone else on another bolt so I don't turn the motor over. But I don't know. What do you guys suggest? Heads/cam, so yes it needs to come off. 95 Auto.

If possible with your set-up, access the starter ring on the flexplate. It is possible to prevent the engine from turning by using a flywheel turner or inserting a screwdriver in the teeth on the starter ring. Clearly, this is not a job for one person working alone but it can prevent the engine from turning while you are exerting rotational pressure at the front of the crank.

I have also heard of people inserting 12" of rope in a one of the cylinders and rotating the motor until the rope compresses and holds the motor. Not sure about it, but I doubt the relatively small torque of taking the bolt off compares to amount of stress it goes thru in a firing pattern.

Did you try putting a wrench on it and hitting it with a rubber mallet or hammer?
