Engine Rebuild with a H/F oil pump
Engine Rebuild with a H/F oil pump
Hey guys. I was looking at some rebuild kits from Summit for my 95 LT1. They include pretty much everything at rather attractive prices.
It also includes SLP-224-43469V
Thats a p/n for a high flow oil pump.
I had heard that high flow oil pumps in LT1 engines can cause more problems than they help.
What is the current consensus on this? Do9es anyone know of a better rebuild kit than the one offered by summit?
Can anyone recommend me a better route to go for the 600 dollars I would spend on the rebuild kit.
It includes all bearings, all gaskets, forged pistons, oil pump, among other little things.
Any recommendations?

You should not use any "high flow" oil pump with the stock pan. Moroso makes a good pan as do others if that is the route you want to take.
I'm not a fan of any rebuild "kits" as they usually contain inferior parts and are stock specs. If you're going to go through the trouble and money required for a rebuild, you should improve upon what came from the factory, IMO.
Otherwise you should save yourself the trouble and buy a crate motor.
