Daily driven 383's?
Re: Daily driven 383's?
Why would the engine having a specific number of cubic inches make it not suitable for the street or not reliable? Those things are not related in any way. With the right component selection, and correct assembly there should be no measurable difference in streetability or reliability between 350 - 355 - 381 - 383 - 396.
Re: Daily driven 383's?
the reason i ask is cause i have a idoit friend who thinks he knwos everything.
He says im going to have to replace the piston sleeves sooner or later or some **** like that.

Re: Daily driven 383's?
The 383 with the H/C wil be darn near the same as stock LT1 in terms of idle and drivability if not better. My CC 306 camed 383 is a great daily driver. I have no cam surge and great low end TQ. I get 15-16 MPG city 26-27 MPG Hwy. Just took her on two trips from charleston to Dc and got 27 MPG both ways both trips and I verified the OD twice on two seperate 100 mile shots and it was dead on both times.

I have a 383 with a HC and its a auto. I get 15-17 mpg, depending on how I drive it. She drives fine, aside from gas being so god awful expensive, its a great daily driver. Well except in deep snow
