D Block lt1
i just bought a d block lt1 from a good friend because my orignal block spun a bareing and i was wondering what parts should i change in my new block to insure no problems any time soon
Re: D Block lt1
What is the difference between that block and any other LT1 2 bolt block? I've never heard the reference to "D block". IMO, you treat it as any other rebuild. Use quality parts and pay attention to tolerances.
Re: D Block lt1
"D-block" is really a misnomer. The Caddy is a D-body.....slightly longer than the B-body.
This engine is exactly the same as the B-body LT1. This means it has a torque oriented cam and iron heads.
OP.....I'm assuming you have a F-body; so if you're not gonna rebuild.....then you could drop the engine in 'as-is' and it'll run fine (A bit more torque below 3K RPMs.....less power above 4K RPMs).....even with your stock tune.
BUT.....those heads are heavy as he11 and the weight will tax your front suspension.
If you want what you already got.....swap out the heads/cam from your current engine......and swap out all your accessories and you'll be fine

Just trying to figure out why the OP thought the engine was different.
