Cylinders 4 and 8 misfire?

I've got a multiple random misfire going on for a while. I finally got my scanner to read my cable.

Anyway, is there any significance to cylinders 4 and 8 having misfires? The other ones when I scanned were fine.

4 had the most, but 8 wasn't far behind.

Any history to the problem like did it happen out of the blue. After having done some work etc.....

Otherwise it's time to pull wires and plugs.

The plugs are new. The po300 isn't. It's been plaguing me forever. I'm just wanting to fix it right the first time, so I don't wast too much money.

The problem I believe has been there since I bought the car. Or at least since the first stall swap. I first noticed it a few weeks after my Tranny install, where it wouldn't want to lock up the converter at a 46mph cruise.

Misfire counts similar on two cylinders may point to cross-firing on the wires, where they pass close to each other. There is also a possibility of carbon tracking on the distributor cap, since #4 immediately follows #8 in the firing order, and the metal contacts in the cap are next to each other.

How would I fix this? Take apart the opti? Replace it?

Swap the wires first. Don't keep buying things.

Problem either moves or it doesn't. Get it?

Problem moves, wires is the problem. Problem doesn't move, go for plugs or injectors. Got it?

If that doesn't fix it, pull the cap off the opti and look at the inside of it and rotor.

Yeah, I'm an idiot. Can't believe I didn't think about the swap. I've done this before I swear.
