cylinder #2 missfire....
cylinder #2 missfire....
ok well ive been having all sorts of issues with my car and i dont have a scanner so i have been letting vato zone do it for free... well each time it seems the car is doing something else...
So yesterday i finally decide to break down and buy myself a scanner capable or reading live data So i drop by o'reily auto parts and get me an Innova 3130 scanner with live data reading and also can record live data and comes with a cable and disk so you can upload data to computer for the tune of $240.30 after sales tax.
anyhow to the point, I have a cylinder 2 missfire so i replace plugs and wires finish up and start it and... still have a cylinder #2 missfire... So then i swap injector #2 and #4 start it up clear code and pops up #2 missfire again so i know it isnt an injector other wise the miss woulda moved. The car does run a little better but still not like it should and the check engine light is still flashing at me from time to time.
when i removed the old plug from #2 it was fuel soaked but didnt really have a whole lot of build up on it.
my question is do yall think my problem is in the cap and rotor? I didnt replace them as it looks like the crank pulley has to come off... I plan on replacing my water pump next weekend and figured i would do the cap and rotor then.
Thoughts?

it was to clean to not be firing some, and when the RPMs get up it smoothes out some.
I have not done a compression test and i plan on replacing the heads and addin long tubes in the nearish future.
I would go do the compression test right now cept its plug #2 and we all know how fun that is to get to.
Im really hoping it is just the cap and rotor giving me greif, but also wanted the opinions of others as well in case im over looking something.

There's no way that I know of to pinpoint the cap and rotor as the problem without taking it apart. It isn't the easiest thing to get to on these cars.
You swapped injectors, so maybe you should try swapping spark plug wires. Just because it's clean, doesn't mean that it is firing all the time.

no i know it isnt firing all the time but it was clean enough to tell it was firing some times.
i know the cap and rotor arnt easy but it needs to get done soo ima do em with the water pump. i will switch the wires then and see what happens.
