Custom Y-Pipe finished w/ pics

Well after looking at all my options to finish my exhaust, I had decided on a custom y-pipe and Magnaflow cat back. I'm pretty happy so far with my car since the new motor went in, and that continues with the work Stage 1 Automotive in Pompton Plains NJ did for me. I actually created a cardomain page, here's the link:

I'll add more pics when I get a chance to scan them.

So, what are your thoughts on the cat being so close to the clutch slave?

Hmmm didn't think of it being an issue, have you heard anything about that? The cat does have a heat shield welded onto if.

The setup is modeled after an LS1 aftermarket pip, less bends and better airflow that the random tech piece. I would'ver had to modify that to fit anyways so went this route anyways.

I put more pics on my cardpmain page if ya wanna check em out...

Are the cats altered from their stock locations at all?

That looks like the stock flange on the drivers side. Isn't the pipe there 2.25" whereas much of the aftermarket stuff including the Random Tech 2.5"?

The driver's cat is further from the collector than the stock location, but is in the 98-newer location so it is still emmissions legal. You can't modify it to an older year but you can a newer one. This way flows much better than the 93-97 route, and dont have to worry bout the pipe rattleing on the k-member...

Good eye Turbo, aye it is, however the y-pipe is 2 1/2" pipe. The BBK header is a 2 1/4 collector to bolt up to the stock pipe. I had done some research and felt a stock-head car w/ a hotcam would breathe fine w/ 1 5/8 primaries, and it seems to be just right, slight backpressure at the muffler, not up in the cats or primairies. Also this pipe is stainless steel, the Random tech pipe is aluminized(sp?).
Summitt sells a stainless dual cat pipe for $550, both that and the Random Tech pipe I would have had to have modified anyways to fit the BBK headers so I went full custom. No complaints whatsoever...
