Well my bracket worked. It could use a little shortening on the back side. It was tight but it went in. I had to drop it down slow, turn the motor to the passenger side to clear the cowl and then straighten it back out. No real major issues though. took me 1.5-2 hrs to bolt it in by myself. Oh I did end up removing the alternator, and driver side motor mount. It got hung up just a bit on the rear of the bracket under the cowl. I need to shorten the bracket about 1/4"-1/2" and it will work great!

overall I think it went very well considering I just made the bracket last weekend without taking any measurements to see if it would actually work. I am going to cut down the top of the bracket a bit. I have probably 1/4" of extra I can cut off to give a bit more. But it worked.

yeah there is a ton of room when you get rid of everything except the engine

I still have a ton of work but at least the engine is back in. I dont know how the bracket would work with a stock engine mount that was not already assembled but I can make this shorter.

 

TPIS makes something that allows you to drop it in from the top too. But it's always good to see people fabricate stuff themselves instead of buying off the shelve parts. Good job. And the engine lools awesome.

I have dropped and pulled my motor from the top 3 times and all I did was use a chain and a long bolt with a washer to pull the links together, well, that coupled with a hoist naturally. BTW your car looks good!

 

but was that with the heads and intake on? I probably could have done it that way also but I didnt want to scratch anything

Yea I thought about that after I posted and I'm really not certain. I think I remember having to put some small pieces of wood between the chains and the intake but I can't be for sure. None the less it looks good and your bracket works like you wanted it to. Now get the car on the road!

I actually pulled the motor out of my Formula with the hood STILL ON!

 

I have the plate which bolts to the 4 fuel rail bolts. It works better than anything I have tried. I was a little skeptical about holding engine weight with 4 little bolts but after using it several times it works great.
