Cruise Control Removal on a '97

Has anyone ever successfully removed the cruise control module from an LT-1? I'm looking to do away with it, but want to see if anyone has attempted this before I start learning the hard way.

Unplug the harness at the control box. Unbolt the bracket that holds the box near the subframe/sway bar. Slide the plastic clip on the cable off the button on the side of the throttle body quadrent. Pop the cable out of the bracket that holds the two cables to the TB/intake. Remove box and cable from car as one unit.

If you have traction control, it is a different setup on the cable. Mine didn't have it.

I guess that's the kicker...I had traction control at one time. That's since been removed to make room for the blower. Now I want to remove this CC module and I have three cables running into the module itself. One is from the pedal, one goes to the trans., and a single one goes to the throttle body.

Because that is exactly where the Vortech Powercooler is located. Carrol Supercharging supposedly makes a relocation kit. They just don't like answering their phones in NJ.

Can you elaborate on this a little? I am hoping to remove the traction control box from the drivers valve cover. I thought one cable went from the pedal to the ASR box, from there to the cruise module, and 1 to the throttle body. I didn't see anything going to the trans. I thought that was only on '93's?

REPO, as I understand it the module which sits over the driverside valve cover is just the cruise control. I agree with you in that once cable, indeed, comes from the pedal. There is the other obvious that runs to the T.B. I also have a third cable which I am almost certain is the transmission valve or kick-down cable.
Also, I understand that this set-up is only so because my car once had active ASR. Since I wasn't as interested in the usage of the ASR I had the shop remove it. Unfortunately, I don't have a metal before and after picture in my head of what it looks like.

The third cable is still attached to something, because it's got tension.

Now you have me second guessing myself...time to crawl under the car and look to where that F*** cable goes once and for all.

The box on the valve cover is not the cruise, it's the ASR. Everyone else that has cruise has no box on the valve cover. On cars with ASR, all the cables were routed through the ASR unit.

I would also really be surprised if you have some cable going to the transmission (unless you have a 700R4 [4L60] transmission).

I am pretty much positive it loops behind the brake booster, then down the drivers fender to the cruise control module.

Only the '93s had a cable to the trans. (700R4)

Ya, your both right. I took **** apart until I saw where everything went. Then I took it all out and ordered a direct throttle cable through a dealer to bypass that ASR box and remove that too.

Once you get your part and install it, It would be great if you could email me the part number of the cable you ordered. That way my dealer can't mess it up.
