Re: Crazy oil pressure. Rises, drops then rises again at WOT.

Guys, I've got some good news.

Looks like the oil pressure problems are solved.

With the cold weather and the added power from the long tubes, traction is a real problem now.

I have not seen the oil pressure dip at all. From 3500 to 5000@WOT in first and second gear, it is a solid 60psi.....when getting just over 5000 I saw 65psi. I have not taken it over 5500 yet. Truth be told, I can't get it to hook worth a damn. It has really picked up some power. I didn't realize how restricted the exhaust was....

With those Kooks long tubes, it sounds more like a race car now....the engine pitch is not as deep, as with the stock exhaust manifolds, but I still like the sound. Especially when going wide open throttle.

I'll get up a video and some pictures later....along with a summary of the pitfalls I ran into with the pan install. However I do want to thank everyone who helped get this issue under control. It's been so long since I've really been able to enjoy the car, for fear of tearing up the bearings, that I forgot how much fun it is driving it. To lay into it in first gear, from a roll, and have it blow the tires off @3500 is real thrill. I still have more in store for it in the future(383, heads, etc), but Thanks again guys!

Awesome to hear this. Please post back when you have had the chance to really rev on it so you can say with 100% certainty its fixed.

What pan, pickup etc did you install again?

Wrd,

The pan is a Moroso 20185.

The pickup is a Canton 20-013.

I'm still pulling together my pictures and notes for a comprehensive post of my entire experience.

I've been driving my Z all last week. I've got on it quite a bit and have rock solid oil pressure. 60+psi above 2500 with NO dips in pressure whatsoever @ WOT.
