crap rust

i left my lt1 block outside after i pulled the heads off of it...the motor ned to be rebuilt due to spun bearing. anyways the pistons were still in it and it got water in the cylinders i have some surface rust and on the crank lobes, i got oil immediately and rubbed most of it awy but some of it seems to be stuck in the gorrves and crevices of the metal...any tips on how to remove? special chemical?
thanks

Re: crap rust

Do you mean the crank counterweights? A little surface rust is no big deal IMO.. it's got to be cleaned at a machine shop anyways since you spun a bearing.. when they regrind/polish they'll take care of it.

Don't worry too much just coat it with a little oil to prevent more rust and when it goes to the machine shop they will take care of it like stated above...

Re: crap rust

I'm sure machine shops deal with beat up parts, old blocks and cranks everyday, no big deal man
