When the car was new, all you had to do was take the three bolts out that hold the damper/pulley on the hub, and it would fall right off. But 12 years of rust is what's holding it on there now. A bit of high quality rust penetrant may help, plus a few taps with a hammer (not on the outside diameter), or if that fails, Shoebox has a guide to using a 3-jaw puller:

All that didn't even budge mine. Had to use the 3 claw puller.. worked perfect..

It's common for the pulley to stick. Try tapping it with a dead blow hammer. Heat around the center portion of the pulley may also help.

Double check that the opti seal is your leak issue. It's common for the water pump driveshaft seal to leak. the oil runs down the front of the timing chain cover making it look like the leak originates from the lower seal(s).

I ran into this today, changing my opti. My pulley had 3 threaded holes so i could put my puller on it and take it off.

When the car was new, they would fall right off. I swapped out the stock damper/pulley a few months after I bought the car new, and it literally fell off.

When mine was new I still had to wiggle the snot out of it to get it off. I gave up after a few years and just started pulling the hub/pulley off as one unit.

Can you tell me what size threads those 3 holes have as mine need to be retapped from the rust and such. I resorted to using 1/4 -20 bolts and nuts last time but I would still like to chase the threads clean. thanks
