Crank position sensor code

My car is currently at the shop and they informed me one of the codes was the crank position sensor faulty. From doing searches on this subject I can't find clear consensus of wether or not my car has a crank position sensor or not. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I have a 94 Z with the OBD1 computer. Thanks in advance.

I think you need to find a new shop, no crank postion sensor on your car.

I would agree with that. F-body cars did not have crank position sensors until 1996. Maybe they mean an optispark code. Get the exact code number from them.

Re: Crank position sensor code

I just talked to him and he said that it was code 18 (fuel injector circuit) or something. Any suggestions on what would cause that code. Thanks.

Re: Crank position sensor code

One of you injectors has a faulty electrical circuit. Unplug each injector, key on, engine not running. Check each pink wire on the injector for +12V. Then check the resistance across the pins of each injector for 12-15 ohms resistance. If you pass these two tests, reconnect the injectors, start it up, get a noid light and use it on each injector to verify that the PCM is supplying the ground to fire the injector.

Re: Crank position sensor code

Latest update, Car was running very bad...using alot of fuel. Turns out the #8 injector harness was a little out of wack and wasn't firing any fuel into the cylinder. Had it fixed and now runs like a champ. It has a small hardly noticeable miss, but I'm not sure if that's a fouled plug or from the CC306 cam. But all and all it is running very well now, and I am as happy as can be with my Z now.....finally. Thanks for all the help from you all, you guys always manage to help a fellow enthusiast out when it's needed. Thanks again.
