Crank no spark = (
Crank no spark = (
Hey i have a 94 z28 camaro, I did all of the opti test but I didnt get the 2-4 volts when I cranked it over. That leaves the opti the pcm and the harness, correct? how can I test from here I didnt see anyway to test it after u got this far. I just replaced the water pump and opti about 15k ago but that was about 2 years ago. i can see the harness isnt in great shape but they are sooo expensive, to much to take a wild guess and just buy one, same with the opi and the pcm i really need to be 100% when i do this repair due to low budget...
please help?
please help?
Have you scanned it for codes? Problems with the Opti optical cam position sensor will set codes. Problems with the high voltage section (e.g. - rotor fell off) will not.
Have you checked the coil, coil wire, and the IC module.
What brand Opti did you use for the replacement 2 years ago?
If the short Opti harness is in bad condition, there are aftermarket replacements available for way less than the GM part. Look at Casper and EFIConnection.
I'd scan it before I started playing parts replacement roulette.

well i went cheap some advance auto parts brand cardone or something 1y warrenty on it when i got it but thats way past
if it is the Opti optical cam position sensor can u just replace it or u have to do the whole distributor?
should i pull the cap off and check to make sure everything is good on the inside?

Anything other than a GM Opti is a waste of time and money. Some last days (if that long), some last months, some may even last a couple years.
I've seen people claim they know where to buy the optical module, but I've never seen one. You will need a complete new Opti.
How did you check the coil? How did you check the IC module?
If you pull the cap off the Opti, you will be able to see if the rotor fell off (common problem, if you did not Loc-Tite the screws before you installed it), tell if the rotor is burned or rubbing on the cap, etc. You won't be able to tell much of anything by looking at the optical module, other than finding some rust blinding the emitter and receptor.
You need to find an OBD-I scanner or free scanning software (DataMaster, Freescan).
