Crank hub question

The crank hub on our cars is balanced correct? Hellostop mentioned about drilling and tapping three holes in the hub and dimpling the crankshaft and holding it with three screws to stop the hub from spinning. As long as you drill right behind each hub ear you shouldn't affect the balance correct? It seems like it will work as long as it is symmetrical. Let me know what you guys think or know on this subject. Thanks....John.

Re: Crank hub question

Cranks are pretty soft metal, so i would think you would "strip" (lack of better work) the dimples out. I am assuming you are having blower slippage issues? Have you looked into keying the hub/crank?

Re: Crank hub question

Well right now I just sleeved and keyed my crank hub after spinning it. But I was wondering if I can dowel it or do what I mentioned for added insurance without affecting the balance. Thanks for the reply though....John
