crank bolt strip

the previous owner cross threaded my crank bolt and no that im puting everything back together(completed lt4 conversion and hotcam with all bolt ons) the bolt will not tighten. so I retaped one size up but corse thread and i got a new bolt the right kind to not just some chep lowes bolt and stuck it in thier with some blue lock tight. question i have it torques to 45 ftlbs i know that its supposed to be 65 but i feel like if i go any tighter it will strip it is strong enough however to turn the motor over. my question is did i fix this right some locals say that it will back out, one guy said that the engine is now unbalanced cause i took weight out of the crank but i didnt do any drilling just taping please help

You don't have a balance issue as you took a very small amount of metal out of the center line of the crank.

Another option is to buy a keyed hub. The Woodruff key will help to keep the hub/pulley from rotating under load.

I have had to helicoil a crank snout before....The motor is now 6 years old and been running fine ever since then at hi rpms, I did use a stainless helicoil and lock tite on the helicoil, none on the bolt tho just a lock washer
