Crane 227
Crane 227
How did the cam affect gas mileage *please list other mods*? I have heard traction is hard to get because the cam has such a fat torque curve.
Also, do the @.50 durations or the advertised durations help when determining if a cam will get decent gas mileage? I was looking at cam specs and it seems that cams can have about the same advertised numbers but very different @.50 #'s. I think that has to do with how aggressive the cam is but from what I read it plays a part in decreased fuel economy too?
Any other comments about this cam are appreciated! My brother is trying to decide between this cam and the LPE 211 (anyone have the cam card?)
Which would you pick and why?

I'm getting a dyno tune next month though, I think my tune for the 846 is way off, I don't even get 20mpg on the highway cruising at 75mph, and whenever i go WOT I get a huge cloud of black smoke out the exhaust, so I know the tune is off. The 227 was alot torquier too, it was alot of fun around town. If I could do it again I would have left the 227 in my car, and put in new springs and get a dyno tune.
