Crane 104227 Cam

The text below is from a search I did a while back regarding
the Crane 104277 cam (210/224/112). Do you think the 35
HP that resulted in this dyno test is a reasonable number?

I just received the Crane dyno sheets for cam #104227.
This test was performed on an engine dyno in a controlled
environment. The engine was a '94 Aluminum headed LT1
with stock manifolds, air box, MAF, PCM and Cranes Valve
spring/retainer set with 140#'s seat pressure for the AL
headed LT1.

Stock/Baseline: 310hp@5100 355ft/lbs@4200
Vacuum: 21.5"hg @ 750rpm

Cam #104227 - specs: 210/224/112 .479"/.518"
340hp@5500 370ft/lbs.@4200

Same cam w/1.6RR:
345hp@5500 380/ftlbs@4200
Vacuum: 17.4"hg @ 600rpm

I am planning on using this cam in my motor and would
like to end up with 35 additional rwhp. Is this possible?

310 rwhp / 324 rwtq - stock cam - stock heads - no n2o - no headers - w/catalytics

With this cam, I made 340 rwhp through an automatic using AS&M 1 3/4" headers and CNC heads. The car ran 12.30's at 112 mph and idled very smooth.

Frank95Z, from down the street, has run 11.40 at 117 mph NA, stock bottom end, stock heads, with this cam. He has lightened his car a bit and is running alot of converter plus Hooker LT's.

I recommend this cam and may have one for sale if someone else backs out.

Thank you for the information. I should have been
a little clearer in my original post. I already have the
cam and have just been waiting to do the install.
Now that I finally have dyno data for my car I wanted
to get a better sense of what to really expect. It sounds
like 345-350 at the wheels is very doable. Thanks again!

Oh! Well in that case, the cam is junk.

Just kidding

I still recommend it.

The "227" cam is real nice !

It's a fairly popular choice with the Impala SS crowd.... Check out this site linked below.... Theres a bunch of info on Karls 350" 227 cammed engine he uses in his Impy sometimes.... which has run low 12's with this cam. The car is about 4000 lbs too
