Coverting a 93 Z from non vented to a vented Opti.
Coverting a 93 Z from non vented to a vented Opti.
I have never heard of the problem that I just ran into yesterday. I have a 93 Z 28. So my main wiring harness in the engine compartent for the opti is for the factory non vented Opti. I am installing a new engine that has been converted over to a vented Opti. I bought a new Vented opti short harness from chevy. This plugs in to the factory male harness connector at the canister purge silanoid, on the passanger side of engine. It goes straight to the Opti. This short harness is app 15' long. The new vented opti harness has a gray female connector that plugs into the black male connector main harness. Well, my connectors would not go together. I look in the gray female connector and see two male raised alinement lines on one side of the gray connector. I then look at my black male connector on the main wiring harness. It has only one female slot instead of two. That is why these two connectors will not go together. The gray female connector has 4 male metal pins sticking out and are close to the 2 raised plastic alainment slots. I know many people convert to vented opti's. Has anyone seen or heard of this and what can I do to make this work without damaging the pins. Thanks for your help.
Im gonna bump this up for ya because im interested in this answer as well. I know most people usually just used an engine harness from a 95-97 harness to do that, but i think its odd that chevy would sell something that wouldnt fit.
Cut out/off the one that is causing the interference, and it should slide right together.
93 non vented opti to vented.
Thanks for everyone's reply. I am afraid I will damage the small metal male pins that stick up in the gray end with the extra raised slot. The connectors do not look like regular weather pac connectors. I have a special tool to remove the pins in a regular weather pac connector. I am sure someone knows a good way to remove one of those raised slots. Thanks.
