Couple quick valve lash questions...SORRY! :(
Re: Couple quick valve lash questions...SORRY! :(
OK here's a soundclip...sorry it's so close, I'll have to get the camera a little further away next time. Anyways, you can here all this LOUD POPPING in the exhaust, and it has no throttle response whatsoever. When we first got the car running, it had throttle response and ran good, so I'm not sure what changed.

Have you checked the plug wire routing? It must be something about these LT1's but i always get the plug wires mixed up and put one on the wrong cylinder.
Re: Couple quick valve lash questions...SORRY! :(
Rechecked my plug wiring, I've got them all hooked up right to the Delteq...1357 down the driver side and 2468 down the passenger side.
Listen here, and you can see that at one point it was running pretty decent:

I've got the wires right, but I'll recheck them again...
I suppose maybe one of the coil packs may have gone bad...I guess just start pulling wires off it and listen to see if they arc eh?
Don't know why the plugs are all fouled with sooty carbon though.
If anyone else cares to comment...

Mine popped like crazy, when almost all plugs were fouled. I think, this is your problem. Why it is running that rich, who knows... Check all sensors, better scan it.
Re: Couple quick valve lash questions...SORRY! :(
I was thinking that was what the problem was before when it first started acting up. I put new plugs in, drove home, and it started acting up again. I'm wondering if the bad valve adjustment caused these plugs to foul again, even with the right lash, and if getting yet NEW plugs again will fix the problem? What a waste of 16 plugs! My last set were carbon/soot fouled, I'd imagine these are too.

Dave,
Remember that there is barely a trickle of oil going thru the pushrods up to the rocker arms even at 50psi of pressure.
Getting that things A/F tuned in right would help out the plug situation a ton.

I was going to redo the lash again tonight but I'm just entirely too lazy.
I ordered a hard drive for my laptop so that I can datalog and send that to Ion for a more precise tune, but I need to get it running like we had it the first night before I worry about that. The tune wouldn't have changed overnight...I don't think LOL.
I bought ANOTHER set of plugs, so I'm going to do the lash yet again, and put some fresh plugs in it at the same time, and maybe see what that does.

Hey man as for the popping sound and the backfire through the intake goes I would really check the adjustment because I have had 2 different cars having that same problem that you are. One of them had an F'd up lifter that actually chewed up an exhaust lobe to the point that it was completely rounded it off and looked like a spot for one of the cam bearing's to rest on haha. The other just out of adjustment but i would get that right cause it sounded alot like that both times.
