Couple of quick pictures

Just got finished with a long day in the garage and wanted to post a couple of pictures of my build with CZ28.com family. It's an old LTx, but she should move. She's been down since 2006 when I snapped the clutch fork and got the bright idea that if I was going to pull the transmission, I should probably just get the motor rebuilt too.

Update 11/13 - Slideshow of build: http://s166.photobucket.com/user/400...Camaro%20Build
Update 3/8/14 - Added first dyno videos to last post

They are original 210s with Lloyd's magic touch. Bought them from the for sale section here in fact.

This is why I keep going back in forth between a mild build or just throwing a cam in.

Though I plan on building from another block so I wouldn't be down near as long.

Haha. Well, I've only been part collecting and building for around 10 months. The rest of the time priorities just didn't allow me to put the kind of money into it that I wanted so it sat collecting dust.

If you're anything like me, no matter which route you go, you'll get a case of the "As long as I'm this far". As long as the intake is off, I may as well have it ported. But what good is a ported intake without a bigger throttle body and head work... But if the heads are already off, I should probably just go ahead and buy some TFS or AFRs instead of working the stockers.

Slow red car will stay slow for a while. This build is draining my bank account! It's amazing how many people are shocked when I tell them how much faster the Camaro will be than the Viper.

Re: Couple of quick pictures

I really enjoyed the slideshow but I didn't see where you mounted your alternator. I'm planning on using the old Micky Thompson valve covers with my shaft rockers.

Thanks. The alternator is in the stock location. It wasn't on yet in these pictures because I had to modify the valve cover to fit. The standard unnotched SBC valve cover contacts the alternator and even grinding the back of the alternator to the bearing didn't help (ruined the alternator actually). I ended up marking the vc and having a buddy cut and weld it. I don't have any pics of it actually cut, but here are a couple of the markup I did on it. The first is next to the stock notched LT1 cover for comparison.

Re: Couple of quick pictures

Thanks much, That is what I was thinking also but if there was an easier way then I'm all ears. How did the finish valve cover work out for you and would you do anything different?

Re: Couple of quick pictures

Some people say they've gotten away with grinding the back of the alternator down, but that had no chance of working on these. Cutting worked out fantastic and wouldn't do it any other way. When you mock it up, make sure to account for clearance for the rockers as well. That's why mine arcs instead of angling straight back.
