couple of questions about a new motor?

I was wondering a few things I have a 95 camaro z and it has 160k miles on it and i am starting to entertain having a motor built. I was wondering whats a good price on having a 355 built or having a 383 stroker done? The plusses and minuses of each motor and what else will i have to replace for both motors...computer, tranny reat end ect. Was also wondering if anyone knew of a good buyilder in or around st louis car i could use as a daily driver if i wanted too with about 400 hp? Any info would be great! Thanks

There will be ones who laugh at this reply but, to have it done right and with all the other mods needed (headers, cam, head porting, new rods, pistons, all new valvetrain, ect....ect......ect.....) I will GUESS $8000.00+. I spent $7000.+ on what is in the sig. and there are still a few things I need.

Can you do it for less.........sure, but it won't last and probly won't run to its full potiential. I'm one who thinks you should do it right the first time. Take it for what it's worth, it's only my opinion.

The cost varies tremendously with that you have in mind. Leaving out the motor R+R we are talking anything from freshening up the motor and returning it to stock form for maybe $1,500 bucks on up to "the sky's the limit" where a good quality high performance rebuild will be in the $7-10,000 range, a high end street/strip motor in the $10-15,000 range and an all out professional race quality motor at $20,000+. "How fast do you want to go?" is intimately related to "how much do you want to spend?"
