Couple questions about my opti

Ok I think my opti is going out but Im not sure. the car was on the dyno about 4 months ago and the graph was really jumpy and the guy said that whenever he has seen a graph like mine the opti was ussually on its way out. so with that said last night I was out for a cruise and started to notice what felt like cam surge around 2500-3000 rpms. If I went wide open no problems. no surge, it just felt normal but below 3k it was surging, this morning I take it out to the gas station and it popping and surging below 3400 stop at the gas station. 5 mins later I start it back up and it seems to run fine with just a hint of surge around 2500. so what do you guys think? sounds like and opti but would you say opti for sure?

Another thing the LTCC is a nice option but every set up ive seen makes the whole engine look really really cluttered! does anyone have any ideas on how to make it look a little cleaner or to hide the coils somewhere? that is the only thing turing me off on the whole conversion.

Oh and I should mention I parked my car next to a 4th gen lt1 SS that was having problems with its mass air flow sensor and wouldn't idle for ****. could my car have "caught" the flu from the other car!? they weren't parked to close but it was cold and I think the 4th gen might have sneezed in my direction!?

I would check the MAF and Fuel pressures before I would go replacing the opti. If the opti is going out, it will start missing.

fuel pressure is good, no code reader so I cant tell if anything is thrown on the maf.

I don't run the LTCC, but I do run another system with 8 LS1-style coils, and they are mounted at the bottom of the radiator support, completely out of sight.

do you have pics of it? Im starting to lean towaed the coil per cylinder option IF I can keep the coils from making my engine bay cluttered. by mounting the coils to the rad support do/can you route the wires under the header?

My opti failed with similar symptoms, but at a lower rpm. Lots of popping and hesitation at full throttle. It was a crusty old opti whose time had come.

I would start by cleaning the MAF. A lot of people over oil their K&N filters and get the MAF "hot wire" dirty. You stated that your fuel pressure is fine; did you check it under load or only at idle?

I checked it driving around under load and under load wide open. I cleaned the maf about 4 months ago and havent cleaned the filters since.
