Question couple newby stroker questions (did search)

Ok, i threw a rod bearing and now i need at the minimun a new crank, rods and bearings. I already bought an internally balanced Eagle cast steel stroker crank and SIR 5.7 rods. a buddy of mine tried to tell me that i could reuse the stock pistons that come in the LT1 since i was sticking with the 5.7 rods. Is this true ? ( I really dont think so my self but i want to check here) I am planning on getting a set of forged Speed Pro pistons from Summit. Also i am not going to have enough money after all the machine work and everything else is done to do anything to the heads or anything like that. I had a buddy of mine give me a lt4 hotcam though, so i am going to put that in. now i know this isnt gonna be the best bombo in the world but it will get me going for now. basicly i would like to know if my stock injectors will keep up with a basicly stock lt1 except for it being a 383 with a hotcam. stock cam stock manifolds stock intake and throttle body etc. also would it be better to get a mail order tune or juast buy the cables and the programs to do it myself ? I will be adding more hop ups as the money comes in. probably heads when taxes come in. an last thing for now, how much of a difference will it make if the compression ratio is a little higher than what is normally stock ? I dont think i'll be able to match the stock ratio perfectly. anyways thanks for now. i am sure i will have more questions later.

you'll need pistons for a 383. The piston will be way out the top of the hole otherwise.
You didn't say what year your car is.93 you can get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and increase the pressure to get more fuel to flow. 94-97 will require the adj. FPR and a tune otherwise the computer will compensate and void that mod.
A stock car can greatly benefit from a mail order tune so , yes, definately get a tune. pcmforless.com or madz28.com can do them for about $100.

Since youre adding the cubes without extra airflow capacity in the ports in and out, you'll notice the motor will have a little more torque and it will peak sooner.

If you plan on adding heads, cam , exhaust ,etc. Then it wont hurt to build the shortblock now and add the goodies later. Just dont expect it to be much more powerful until the breathing has caught up with the other mods.

it's kind of funny that you mention that, actually i am married (with children lol) and this is my excuse for building it now i just have to come up with another excuse why i will need a set of $2400 heads

WS Sick, thanks for the reply, that is about the lines i was thinking of, make the bottom end stout for now that way i dont have to do it later.

You can get a good set of used heads with an intake for under $1K if you look around. With a mild mannered and streetable cam, a cheap set of heads and a stroker kit...easy 400rwhp with a lot of torque to get you motivated.

Beware though...once you start making power...parts other than the motor need addressed.
