could a O2 sensor make a car run bad?

Re: could a O2 sensor make a car run bad?
yes it can, first hand experiance here.
I had a problem with interference on the o2 signal wire, I had tapped in that for an A/F guage and it was causing problems such as stumbling and backfiring. Once I fixed that it was better.
Most of the time though, if an o2 sensor is bad it will throw a code. Sometimes, it won't.

Agree with above.. I diagnosed a firebird that was running awfully, bucking, smelling, etc.. hooked it up to my laptop and it showed one O2 stuck at a high reading, no trouble codes. After the O2 was replaced it ran like a new car..

My o2 sensors are causing me to have split blms and making the car run very rich.
But on yours, the o2s moniter the air/fuel ratio when the car has warmed up and is runnin in closed loop. If one isnt working right, it wont give the comp the correct a/f ratio and it will run terrible.
Good luck

absolutely can make it run bad, I also had a bait of issues with the drivers side 02, Denso (think it's called) makes a nice 02 compared to Bosch (went through 4 sets) couple years back. Autozone will scan for free and tell you the code.
