Could I have bent a pushrod?
Could I have bent a pushrod?
I just did my cam/head/headers/etc. swap. I adjusted the valves to 0 lash+ 1/8 turn when I first put everything together. The car started and ran, but it fell on it's face at high (5800) RPM's. It also had an erratic idle. I pulled the valve covers and ran the valves again with the engine running. I definately had them too tight. Could I have bent a pushrod? I'm using COMP Hi-Tech chromemoly pushrods. After the valve readjustment, It seems to run exceptionally well. Just wondering if anyone has bent one from doing this. Remember, the motor DID run, so they weren't that tight.

It is hard to bend chromoly. It is possible that one was too tight. I have had the same problem myself. It was just that one stud was a little different in length and caused my valve adjustment to be incorrect.
