Could this be caused from a optispark?????

I have a 94 camaro z28. When my car gets hot my car seems to be missing like - it tends to struggle to build up rpms like it's missing. Could my opti spark be going. Are those signs. How can I check to see if my optispark is bad

Sounds like the ignition module, its located above the coil on the front of the drivers side cylinder head

re:

My car is doing the same thing it idles great but when I actually get into the car has no performance. When I had my cam installed the lt4 hot cam. The guy had installed a USED opti spark he bought it for $150.00. I guess he said my old one was bad which I had that replaced last summer which also was a used one. I'm guessing it's the opti. THE dealership should tell me right???

ditto...usually when heat makes it worse, its the ICM... Also when you replace it..use some washers to space it away from the head to keep the ICM cooler...

I don't think that's right. I've heard and read that when the ICM goes out it just goes out. Without warning, it's either your car starts =it works or car won't start=ICM could be to blame.

oh and personaly I would NEVER buy a used opti. for my car. You could of spent $60 more and got one from Jason Cromer.

Things I would check:

-plugs and wires look for fireworks at night

-fuel under load also

-check warning lights if u have um probably don't though I didn't
anyways

-vacuum leaks

-check your cat

I guess someone else can chime in with more. Or do a search the wealth of knowledge on this website for are cars is amazing.

Not for a 94 as his name implies. The nonvented optis are around 300.
