could be bad opti?

Been having some problems lately. My 94z(sig) bogs down and stumbles while acclerating from idle to 3000 rpm. The car wont even spin the tires in first gear from a stop. It shakes the whole car and wont pick up speed unless I shift down to a lower gear with a higher rpm. As long as it is kept at a higher rpm than 3000ish it accelrates smoothly. while sitting in park the car revs smoothly from idle to 3K. Im wondering if it could be the opti crapping out on me? what are some symptoms of a opti going bad. If this doesn't sound like opti are there any other ideas?

Also, does anybody run the delteq opti delete? http://www.delteq.com/index.htm

Could be as simple as fouled/worn plugs, or it could be bad plug wires. Also... Who did the heads, how 'big' are they ported, what cam, how many cubes? All these things have a factor. If you went too big on the heads and cam, you might not have any power below 3000 RPM.

Some folks get too tied up in HP numbers and forget streetability when choosing a cam. You end up with a lumpy, dirty idle and bad low end power. That's fine for a weekend toy or drag car, not so good in a driver.

O well the cam is pretty small there is a little lope at idle: compcam 500-8 .48 intake .488 exhaust 112 lobe. The porting was by a guy I know in Qunicy IL very lightly ported. The Intake matches the gaskets. New spitfire plugs and acdelco wires. I didnt bore or anything so the bottom end is 350. I think this setup is very street oriented.
Water pump does leak out of the weep hole. I am replacing that. hence why I thought it could be the opti. and then would be a good time to replace it. The opti has 90K on it. The O2 sensors are bad because the new coated headers. Im replacing them. Im gonna check motor and tranny mounts. I've got good fuel pressure.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Josh

Bad coil, bad plug wires, bad opti...could be several things. Sounds like spark breaking down under a load. How long has it been since these things had maintenance?

Last I heard Delteq was pretty much defunct. No one that had warranty or maintenance issues could reach them, due to illness of the owner.

I've never heard of an opti that works well at high rpm and poorly at low.

But with 90k and a leaking WP your opti is on borrowed time at best.

These could be part of the problem. Anything 'splitfire' or with multiple electrodes is more or less junk. NGK plugs seem to be the best bet these days.

This isn't helping. Chances are the Opti has moisture in it due to this leak. How bad of a leak is it?

The coil and opti both have 90000 miles on them. Plug wires are new.

My spark plugs are not split fire they are acdelco rapidfire. my bad.

If the spark is breaking down could getting a hotter coil like msd help?
