Cost for rod repair? Video of issue

So just bought a 96 z28, posted a thread to try and figure out the problem, seems I have a rod out.. Just wondering the cost for a rod repair and whatever damages may have been caused by it. Knock knock lt1 mystery - YouTube video of the issue.

it is the left side of the motor taken from a seated position behind the steering wheel and for that much smoke I would suspect the exhaust manifold gasket.

You won't know the extent of the damage until it is disassembled.

I can get a lt1 with 80k on it for 800. How much would the swap cost rough estimate? Including dropping
The engine currently in it. Thanks for the help so far

In a perfect world it should take about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to drop. Usually more if you have rusty exhaust etc. I don't recommend dropping the whole thing out the bottom just for the motor though. It takes longer and there are definitely more steps. Anyhow, either way you choose, you need to know how much of the donor motor is good. I just did my swap today, and many good parts came from the donor, and many others from the original. That takes extra time and gaskets etc. Also you should freshen up the timing chain, on the 80k motor. I did and was happy with the results after opening it up.

Plan on 8 hours labor and additional gasket, bolt money etc($300). For example change out those exhaust and manifold bolts, remove o2 sensors and use anti-seize them. It will save you a lot of trouble later.
