Corrosion on coil plug
Corrosion on coil plug
I replaced my plugs and wires the other day and I noticed there was some corrosion on the coil plug. Whats the best thing to clean it with, or do I need to replace the coil? Someone told me I could clean it with sandpaper, is this a good idea??

as long as you can get it clean, and use dielectric grease, it should be fine
but if you ever have a no start issue(unlikely), look there first
Re: Corrosion on coil plug
I noticed the same problem when I took off the Taylor wires I was using. I took a can of electronics cleaner, and cleaned it off. I also sprayed it into the opti connection and used Q-tips to clean it out. A few times of this, and it was clean.
I also took a small mirror and looked into the spark plug wire connectors. Some of these were pretty bad as well, and I cleaned them the same way.

Re: Corrosion on coil plug
I used a small piece of fine sandpaper to remove the corrosion. Mine was pretty bad so I had to take pliers and bend in the contact inside the coil wire some, but after that it worked just fine.

Ah I see what you are saying. I wish I would have thought of that when I was doing the plug wires. Hahaha.
