Correct positioning of GM guideplates?
Correct positioning of GM guideplates?
Well, I test fitted a cylinder with the new valvetrain, and the GM guideplates seem to have a decent amount of tolerance around the rocker stud hole. I can move them side to side a decent amount and wondered if there was a way to tell where the best position is. Do you just look at the rocker tip and position the guideplates so that it puts the rocker tip centered the best you can over the valve stem?

Re: Correct positioning of GM guideplates?
Thanks. I have it all installed now. Basically I slid the guideplates from the front against the side of the studs as I tightened the studs down. It's hard to explain. That means that at least all the guideplates were installed the same. By holding the guideplates against the stud, it kept the guideplate from being rotated when the studs were tightened.
The rocker tips were all right where they were supposed to be.
