Cooling problem help

Ok so i just replaced the water pump and despite wanting too i didnt just set the car on fire. But the car is still getting hot. right after i replaced the pump i took it out and ran it hard for about 20-30 mins to get the temp up. it never got above 1/4 on the gauge. but today i go and drive it and out of nowhere the temp shoots up. then when im gonna pull over to let it cool off and check on it, the temp goes back down to normal it did this 3 or 4 times before it finally over heated. any help would be great.

Did you verify that the coolant fans are working correctly?

Re: Cooling problem help

Here's a few things to also check..... make sure you have every bit of air blead from the system by getting a steady stream of water comming from the bleed screws.......and (if you want) putting the fans on a 2 dollar manual overide switch right at the solenoid can help greatly as well("reguardless" of what temp the computer is programed for them to come on at).....and you can also try running a little higher mixture of water, since water cools much better than antifreeze.....you can also boil the thermostat to verify it's opening fully, "and" at the right temp.....
