Cooling FANS

If i was to wire the fans so that the fans run when the car is on, would this make the computer think that it didnt have fans since its not wired to the computer. I have done this to my 88 mustang and it works great. Does anyone have any ideas?

I ran a jumper wire across the fan relay to a switch so I can turn the fan on when ever I want. By doing it this way they are still hooked up to the computer and you also have the control when you want it.

Some people wire them to be on all the time. I don't see why. IMO, it is a waste and not necessary. At higher vehicle speeds the computer turns off the fans so they don't impede air flow. Put in a fan switch or have the fan ON temps reprogrammed - a better solution, IMO.

I agree with Shoebox if you want the car to be cool get a 160* thermostat and get the fans to come on sooner and the car will never get hot. I mainly use my switch at the track.

Ive got a switch and love it. It beats having turn on the ac and sacrifice mileage to keep the engine cool

Here is where I got mine speed specialty it is a nice product and a lot cheaper than the slp one out there. I agree with shoebox in that you dont need the fans on at all while highway or high speed driving......its the stop and go driving and the waiting in line at the track that the fans are good for...personally i would hate to have my fans always on.

I use the Jet fan switch ($45 from Summit). It turns the fans on at 180. Works great.
