Cooling fan problem, somebody explain how they work?
My car has been running warm the past couple of days, I thought it was because it's been around 100 degrees or more the past couple of days. However, last night I noticed that on my SLP fan switch, I only get the fans on in one position, the other 2 nothing happens. I think my fans are only kicking on low, not high, but I'm not sure how they really work to begin with. Do both fans run, or does one run, then when it gets hotter the other kicks on? Anything I should check for?

Thanks Shoebox! I read through there and after playing with some stuff I found that it looks like my primary fan is not coming on, but the secondary one is. I checked the relay and it is good. What else should I check or do I just need new fans?
Check the grounds on your fan switch. The switch works by grounding a certain wire to make the fans go on low, or high. I have a 94 and it has two modes, low and high. I think some 94's are set up so the fans come on one at a time. Either way, the switch works by grounding a wire, so make sure it actually is grounding it. Maybe the solder came undone.
To check if your fans actually work, just set the SES light and run the car. With the SES light on, both fans should go on. You can trip the SES light by unplugging a sensor like the MAF sensor.
