Can someone tell me the proper way to refill the coolant system on my '97 Formula? I completely drained it and got out about 4 gallons. I followed the instructions from a Haynes manual but I can only get about 2 gallons back in. When I open the bleed screw on the thermostat housing the coolant runs out. Also, after driving it about 20 miles I noticed that the temp gauge is reading a lot lower than normal. The radiator is full but there must be an air pocket in there somewhere.

i have made my own way to do it i take out the thermo replace the neck and fill while running which will push the air out of the system through the filler neck. then i replace the thermo and its good. never have been able to get all the air out with the book method....take an old thermo apart and put the top back in the slot with oring to get that temp seal or use rtv sealant
