Coolant question

Hey all,

Just replaced the water pump on my 96Z28 like maybe two months ago or so, noticed slight coolant on the water pump but can't see any other leaks, or any profuse leaks like I had before. Anyway, my low coolant light comes on here and there, is it ok to use any coolant to refill or listen to the 16 year old jiffy lube guy and buy the expensive stuff? I have no clue. Thanks all!

Re: Coolant question

Dex-Cool is what your car requires. It's the orange coolant.

Re: Coolant question

when I put my LT-1 back together it's going to the green stuff. I and others have had significant clay build up from the orange stuff. From what I understand, as long as you don't mix the 2, theres nothing to worry about.

Re: Coolant question

Do not "top off" the coolant with green if it's orange. Flush it completed (Jiffy Lube can) and then fill it with green.

Re: Coolant question

ill probably get shot for this but... i would use Honda radiator fluid. its expensive, but it works very well. it's formulated so that it will not erode aluminum (among other things) like other fluids. my $.02. later!
