Tool to replaceTiming Cover seal?

I'm trying to find out what tool I need to get to take the
Timing Cover seal off?
The one behind the harmonic balancer.
I don't want to pray it out with a screwdriver and break the cover.
Anybody know what to use?

Thanks,

Chris.

Re: Tool to replaceTiming Cover seal?

they make seal pullers, grab one from even walmart. Works like a charm!

You can always try to flash heat/cool it. I had to on one of my seals. Hit it good with a torch (goodbye rubber seal) then once it was rather hot, poured ice water all over it. Then the seal puller took it right out.

Linky for a seal puller!

Thanks I'll try the seal puller.
It's looks to big but I'll get one and give it a shot.
Thanks,

Chris.

Use a screwdriver and a hammer and it will pop out, you can bend the old seal and it won't break the cover trust me. I've replaced it plenty of times but when you replace it it will still leak a little.

I've always just hooked a screwdriver or prybar tip under the metal lip of the seal and popped them out. May have to pry in more than one location to work it out but they always come out. Done thousands of seals like this.

As have I. But getting the seal puller helps a lot on some of the more annoying ones.
