Coolant Leak located front of engine (video)

Hey everyone,
I have a coolant leak seeming like it is coming from BEHIND the water pump. Not the weep hole.

I have an 1995 LT1 auto.

Below is a video I shot and uploaded..

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I am wondering if the water is riding down a line before it drips..

The same exact thing happened to me. I doubt it's the water pump gaskets. Mine was leaking about that same amount, and it ended up being the bolts having threads just worn enough to let water through the threads and out the bolt heads. Take the four long bolts that hold the water pump out one by one. Then put regular teflon tape(the white tape for threads) and wrap the threads, making sure to do it in the correct direction. Put the bolts back in, torque them down and i'll bet you it won't leak anymore.

Looks like your water pump is on its way out. Look for any coolant staining on the weep hole of the water pump. It's a tiny hole in the water pump casting directly below the front cover.

Ok. An update. I appreciate all the feedback so far.

It turns out, the waterpump was leaking coolant from the back shaft where it connects to the spline. The race was broken, and missing some bearings.. turning the pump shaft makes a small scraping sound like it is not smooth. Also, there is a trail of rust coming down from it to indicate where the leak was occuring.

I purchased a brandnew pump

Waterpump - Click here to see which one I purchased

Also, since I am there, I am going to replace the Optispark as well.

Cap and Rotor - Click here to see which one I purchased

Distributer - Click here to see which one I purchased

The dealship wants $660.00 for the whole Optispark Unit, with a 12 month warranty.

The parts I purchased have a lifetime warranty, including the pump.

Also, since I will have the distributer off, I want to replace the seals back there as well.. crank, opti, waterpump. I purchased a FelPro gasket set for this.

Ok, my first question, since I purchased the distributer cap and rotor seperate from the distributer housing, I will have to put that together. Do I take apart my old distributer for reference? What about the optical wheel?

I have used this link for a nice reference..

LT1 95 Optispark disection - click me

any tips on assembly would be apprecieted. I purchased some lock-tite to apply to the rotor screws so they wont backout. but all input would be welcome!!

Also, when it comes to the seals, can I put in the seal in any direction? or is it only one way? Can I use a small flathead screwdriver to take out the old seals? I heard of using a felt-tip marker cap with alittle oil to apply the wp / opti seals.. and using an oversized socket to tap in the main crank seal, which is leaking.. again. input is welcome..

I have to say that this is really involved.. more than I thought.. but there are so many areas where i feel the install could fail.. from installing the opti incorrectly, to putting it together correctly...

Thanks so much in advance!!
