Coolant Leak

Hey whats up guys, I just had a new cam professionally installed and so far everything is great, runs real nice, I just have one small problem, when I'm at a traffic light I can smell coolant burning, but today I jacked the car up to change the oil, and was looking around but I can't locate where it's leaking from. The water pump looks dry, all the hoses seem dry, the only thing thats wet is the bottom front area of the motor, by where the oil pan is. Any ideas where it could be coming from?

Might be the radiator petcock: I believe I have that problem. Even though the T is tight, apparently the petcock gasket may be damaged. My guess is that the mech (perhaps) unscrewed the petcock for a quicker drain of the coolant and screwed up the reinstall.

Probably not your problem, but it is a possibiity given no other obseravation. JMHO

I'll have to go check that, I've had the car running in my garage for a while now, and I can't seem to see anything leaking, is there some part of the cooling system, that only works when the car is being driven around?

Re: Coolant Leak

Hey bud, the petcock was reinstalled properly and tightened up (not overtightened, i know b/c I did it ) All the waterpump bolts have thread sealant as well, and the gaskets are new and have a thin layer of RTV on them as well, all bolts were tightened down.

One thing I noticed when we put the car back together was that the weep hole area of the water pump had some coolant around it. Since it had just been off I didn't think much of it, but it was somewhat stained, so it may be starting to leak on ya

Take a good look at the bottom of the water pump and see if there's coolant around the hole now.
